The Woods of Arcady
The photo above is of a Polyphemus Moth that we caught as a caterpillar. We put it in a box with a leafy twig, upon which it promptly built a fine cocoon. We kept it until it emerged as a beautiful moth. The large "eye" on each of its lower wings earned it it's name, after the cyclops in the Greek legend of Polyphemus.
Here I will share information on wildflowers, mushrooms and outdoor activities of skiing and stone arch building. Enjoy!

September 2018; a bee on wild Aromatic Aster
A delicate crocus shows strength and resolve, blooming through a late April snow in Wisconsin. Beautiful.
This is the same flower early the next morning, it tucked itself in for the night, protecting itself with its wrapped up petals.
Picking cherries in our orchard in 2017. Note the nice tall meadow in the orchard, along with the wild flower area in the background, all of which harbors a healthy web of life.
