Compac 16 Trawler Downrigger Platforms

The Compac 16 fishing trawler "Lillyanna" will have two downriggers and two outriggers.  The downriggers will run perpendicular to the boat, and will be installed on custom wooden platforms that are made to fit exactly over the cockpit coaming.  They will be pinned in place with 3/8" stainless pins, which will allow the platforms to be quickly removed or installed.

On the right are the two solid oak downrigger platforms. They are receiving 2 coats of epoxy and four coats of Epifanes Spar Varnish.

Here you can see the 3/8" stainless steel pins which will fit into bronze bushings in the downrigger platform and then into bushings that will be installed in the cockpit coaming.

I epoxied bronze bushings into the cockpit coaming to line up perfectly with the bushings in the downrigger platforms. Everything fit well and I am happy with the result.
